Sometimes the same person ends up in your contacts twice. Maybe they filled out a form with a different email, or came in from an old import. Merging puts them back into one record, so their messages, notes, and jobs all live in one place.
Merge contacts you already know are duplicates
- Go to Contacts, then Smart Lists.
- Search for the person and check the boxes next to each copy. You can merge up to 10 at once.
- Click More, then Merge.
- Pick the record to keep as the Master.
- Where the records disagree, like two different phone numbers, choose which one to keep.
- Click Merge Contacts.
Find duplicates you don't know about
From Contacts, open the three-dot menu and choose Manage Duplicates. It looks for possible matches by email, phone, or name, so you can review them and merge the real ones.
Before you click merge
A merge can't be undone. Take a second to check you've got the right Master record and the right email and phone. Notes, tasks, and opportunities from all the copies get combined into the one you keep.
FAQ
Why do duplicates happen?
A different email or phone number on a form or import is the usual reason. When the email or phone matches someone already in your account, the importer updates them instead of making a copy.
Will merging stop their automations?
Their follow-up continues on the record you keep. If anything looks off afterward, email support@earnworthy.com.
Can I merge more than 10 at once?
Not in one go. Do them in batches.
