Phone, Texting and Calls

Website Changes You Need Before Texting Is Approved

Carriers review your website before they approve texting. Add these two pages and update your forms first.

Before the phone carriers approve your number for texting, they look at your website. A few things have to be in place first. If someone else manages your site, you can forward this article to them as is.

We'll email you the exact wording for each piece. It's approved for your business specifically, so it always comes from us by email, not from a template online.

1. Add two pages

  • A Privacy Policy page
  • An SMS Terms of Service page

Paste in the text we send you, then link both pages in your site's footer.

The SMS Terms text has a spot for your Privacy Policy link. Replace it with the link to your new Privacy Policy page.

3. Update every form on your site

  • Make the phone number field optional.
  • Add the two consent checkboxes we send you, right under the phone field.
  • Leave both boxes unchecked by default.
  • Let people submit the form without checking either box.
  • Under the checkboxes, add the line "Read our Privacy Policy and SMS Terms here" and link it to your two new pages.

Once the pages are live, send the two links to support@earnworthy.com and we'll file your texting registration.

FAQ

Did Earnworthy build my site?

If we did, we handle these changes for you.

Why can't the checkboxes be checked already?

Consent has to be something the person chooses. A pre-checked box doesn't count.

We file the registration and let you know when it's approved. See How to Get Your Text Messaging Approved.
