Amplify uses three subdomains of your main domain, and each one has its own job. Knowing which is which makes setup and troubleshooting a lot easier.
| Subdomain | What it's for | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Email sending domain | The behind-the-scenes setup that delivers your newsletters, campaigns, and automated emails | mail.yourdomain.com |
| Branded link domain | Links the system makes, like calendar booking links | link.yourdomain.com |
| Website or funnel domain | Your pages, funnels, and blog | pages.yourdomain.com (or go., get., try., info.) |
Your main domain (yourdomain.com) stays where it is. That's the address on your business cards and your regular email.
What address your emails come from
Your emails come from whatever address you choose on your own domain, like hello@yourdomain.com. Behind the scenes they go out through the sending subdomain, which helps them reach the inbox and leaves your main domain's email settings untouched. To pick or change your address, see What Address Your Emails Come From.
Using Google Workspace (Gmail) for your business email
If you use Google Workspace for email at yourdomain.com, keep it. Your Workspace inbox runs on your main domain. Your Amplify emails can come from an address on that same domain. Your main domain's MX records are what deliver your Workspace email, so they stay pointed at Google. Google's current setup is a single MX record: host @ (or blank), priority 1, value smtp.google.com. Older setups use the ASPMX records, and those keep working.
Don't delete or change the existing records for your main domain while setting up Amplify. The ones to protect are the MX records on your main domain. Delete or change those, and your inbox stops getting mail. Check them in your DNS settings against Google's values. DNS changes can take up to 72 hours to kick in. Not sure? Email support@earnworthy.com before you touch anything.
Where each one is set up
- Email sending domain: Settings > Email Services > Create Dedicated Domain
- Branded link domain: Settings > Business Profile > Branded Domain
- Website domain: Settings > Domains & URL Redirects
Each one gives you DNS records to add at your domain provider. If you use Cloudflare, turn the proxy off for these records (the cloud icon should be gray). Verification can take a few minutes and sometimes up to 24 hours.
We usually set these up during your install. If you're not sure what's connected, email support@earnworthy.com and we'll check.
